Mrs. Helen Schellenberg passed away on Friday, January 1, 2016, at the age of 86 years. Helen was born the youngest child of Frank and Cornelia (Nellie) Nickel of Beechy, SK. on March 27, 1929. She asked Jesus into her life at the age of 10 at VBS, was baptized and has been singing her savior’s praises ever since. She married John Schellenberg on July 18, 1948 and they lived in Cabri until moving back to Beechy where they owned and operated a local business. After John’s passing, Helen continued to operate the business, but eventually worked in Swift Current before retiring to Medicine Hat. Helen is survived by four children; Lynn Schellenberg, Gerald (Janet) Schellenberg, Kathy (Gerald) Reimer and Rob (Rose) Schellenberg; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, John, her granddaughter Tanya, her parents, her siblings and several in-laws. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Wednesday, January 6, 2016, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. A Graveside Service will be held in the Beechy Cemetery, Beechy, SK. on Thursday, January 7, 2016, at 3:00 p.m. MST. A Memorial Service honouring Helen’s life will be held at Hillcrest Evangelical Missionary Church, 3785 – 13 Avenue S.E., Medicine Hat on Friday, January 8, 2016, at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Mark Bolender officiating.
