Hoffmeyer
With a deep sense of sorrow and loss, our family announces the peaceful passing of our mother, grandmother and great grandmother Arlene on February 20, 2016, in Sherwood Park, AB at the age of 90 years.

Arlene leaves her three sons and their families to cherish her memories: Jim(Chery Ann) of Sherwood Park and their children Shawn(Crista) and Chad(Carrie); Don(Sharon) of Fort St John, BC and their children Cory(Kim), Kimberley and Carson; Bob(Tina) of Linden, Michigan and their children Jared(Katie), Torrie(Brian Todorow) and Lexie; her seven great grandchildren; Ashley, Aiden, Bode, Vander, Hazely, Huck and Mayelle; also, her niece Joan Casper and nephew Glen Elliott.

Arlene was predeceased by her husband Bill; her parents Bertha and Archie Elliott; brothers Keith (Orma) and Harold; Bill’s parents Alma “Nanny” and William; her sisters-in-law Ruth Hubert and Blythe Dowson.

Arlene was born in Dodsland, SK in 1925, and grew up in the Beaufield and Kerrobert area. She met and married Bill while teaching school in Dodsland. Arlene helped on the farm and worked at the Dodsland General Hospital. She was an active participant in many community organizations and activities. Arlene enjoyed sports; hockey, baseball and curling – supporting her children and grandchildren. They lived on the farm until September 1994 when they retired to Medicine Hat. She made and enjoyed many friends from her days in Dodsland, Medicine Hat and Aquadeo Beach. Arlene was a wonderful, gracious, and lovely lady who had a warm smile, plenty of wit, and a great sense of humour. Late in life she tackled her health challenges with hope and courage; she drew great strength and perseverance from those who touched her life.

The family expresses their sincere gratitude to all the Doctors and caregivers for their kindness, support, and compassion for Arlene as she presented herself at Meadowlands Retirement Residence, Medicine Hat Regional Hospital, St Joseph’s Home in Medicine Hat, and Capital Care Strathcona, Sherwood Park.

Internment will take place at a later date in Dodsland, SK.

At Arlene’s request, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honour to your local “Children’s Wish Foundation”.
