Mr. Alexander Barnabas Koenig, beloved husband of Mrs. Mary Lily “Missy” Koenig, passed away peacefully at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Sunday, July 10, 2016, at the age of 91 years. Following Alex’s retirement from a lifetime of service with the C.P.R., he joined Missy’s band and played with her at many venues in Medicine Hat and surrounding communities. Alex will be forever remembered in the hearts of his wife, Mary Lily; step-daughters; Wanda (Rick) Carlson, Karen (Wayne) Triebwasser, Lisa Maria “Mia” (Ken) Nielsen, Tammy McFadden; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Merle (Darlene) Koenig as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Ottilia Koenig; brother, Edward “Ted” Koenig and sisters, Shirley Raven and Lucille Archer. A Memorial Service honouring Alex’s life will be held at St. John’s Presbyterian Church, 502 – 2 Street S.E., Medicine Hat on Wednesday, July 13, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Dr. Nancy Cocks officiating.
