1941 ~ 2016

It is with heavy sadness that the family of Elizabeth “Bette” Gaye Millington, beloved wife of G. William Millington, announce her passing in Medicine Hat on Saturday, August 20, 2016, at the age of 75 years. Bette was born in Lethbridge, AB, on March 15, 1941. She married Bill on December 6, 1975, in Medicine Hat, where she resided until her passing. Over the years, Bette was a loving and devoted foster mother to more than 300 children. Her creative, kind and witty disposition gave way for the many hours of reading, sewing, cooking, gardening and canning as well as drawing and painting, which was a way she could share her many talents with her family. Bette was especially proud of the birth of each of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her fondest memories included her 70th birthday celebration and most recently her 75th birthday party at her home. Bette was honoured to receive the Foster Parent Service Award for 30 years of dedicated service, which was proudly displayed in her home. She loved dogs, especially Misty, a West Highland White Terrier, her long-time companion. Bette will be lovingly remembered in the hearts of her husband, Bill; children, Rory Dean (Karen Leier) Crawford; Penny Jo-Lane (Scott) Bergdahl; Richard Allen (Sheri) Millington; Robert Bradley Millington; Michelle LeBlanc Millington; Michael Dean Millington; sister, Pat (Frank) Reeder; grandchildren, Justin, Dakota, Sienna, Kody, Kassidy, Cruz, Gavin; and great-grandchildren, Kaysia and Jordyn. She was predeceased by her parents, David and Dorothy Loreé and stepson, William Joseph Millington. The Funeral Service will be celebrated at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat, on Wednesday, August 24, 2016, at 1:00 p.m., with Reverend Dr. Daniel Gales officiating. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made in Bette’s name directly to  the Canadian Red Cross, 398 Aberdeen Street S.E., Medicine Hat, Alberta T1A 0R2. I am so very sad to hear of Betty’s passing. Our lives were so wonderful as we grew up. She was so much a part of mine. She accomplished so much in such a short time. Sad how we drift away and then realise we have missed our friends lives. Please know I share your Grief and have had a quiet time thinking of memories. My Love to you and the rest of your family.
