Sept. 15, 1943 ~ Aug. 31, 2016

Mr. Wilbur Albert Hamm, beloved husband of the late Mrs. Susan Hamm, passed away at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Wednesday, August 31, 2016, at the age of 72 years. Wilbur was born in Welland, Ontario. He and his family lived in the Welland, Fonthill area. In 1976, Wilbur and his wife Susan moved to St. Catharine’s Ontario where they raised their three children. In the early 1990’s, the family moved again, relocating to Medicine Hat, Alberta. Wilbur worked at Unifab in Redcliff where he did welding and construction jobs. He enjoyed playing slo-pitch with his sons, teaching them everything he knew. He also loved playing darts with his wife and family and was a really good euchre and crib player. Wilbur was a fun loving, quiet man who loved working on his cars and taking his kids to their sports. He loved his family more than they ever knew, no matter how many miles were between them ~ he might not have said it often, but they all knew. Wilbur’s family was always in his thoughts and he always worried about them instead of himself. He will be greatly missed by anyone who got to meet him or have a beer with him. Left to cherish Wilbur’s memory are his three children: Boyd (Joyce) Hamm, Joyce (Bob) Bell and Wilbur Hamm; five granddaughters, Jordyn Bell-Hamm, Sydnee Bell-Hamm, MacKenzie Hamm, Brynn Hamm and Kiera Hamm. He is also survived by his sister, Joyce Belansky; niece, Lisa Belansky and family; cousin, Eleanor (Ron) Haydon and children; cousin, Bob (Nancy) Brown and children; niece, Jennifer Hamm and family as well as a nephew, Jeffrey Hamm and family. Along with his wife Susan, Wilbur was predeceased by his parents, Albert Hamm and Joyce Brown; brother, Richard Hamm; Aunt, Leona Brown; Uncle, Bob Brown and brother-in-law, Joe Belansky. Private interment will take place at a future date. On Saturday, September 10, 2016, there will be a celebration of Wilbur’s life from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at 39 Desert Blume Gate. Everyone is welcome to come and share with family stories about Wilbur, food and maybe a beer!!
