Mr. John Ens of Medicine Hat, beloved husband of Mrs. Katherine Ens, passed away peacefully at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Thursday, October 6, 2016, at the age of 89 years. Along with Katherine, left to cherish John’s memory are his three children and their families, Linda (Ian) Ruetz, Pat Ens (John Hayashi) and Brad (Carol) Ens; grandchildren, Jessi (Damien) Lesko, Curtis Ruetz, Nicola Ens (Rune Clausen), Kenji Hayashi, Nicholas and Natasha Ens; great-grandchildren, Samantha and Owen Lesko. His memory will also live on in the hearts of his surviving siblings and their families. John was predeceased by a daughter, Cheryl Ann Ens, his parents, Frank and Agatha Ens as well as a number of his siblings. John enjoyed his work as a builder and made many good friends over the years through his work as a contractor in the Medicine Hat area. Always involved within the community, John was a lifetime member of both the Kiwanis Club and Connaught Golf Club. He enjoyed time spent outdoors and loved animals of all kinds, especially his pet dogs. More than anything, John always put his family first – A true family man. A Celebration of John’s life will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Monday, October 10, 2016, at 1:00 p.m. A time of fellowship will follow immediately thereafter in the Cook Southland Reception Facility.
