Margaret Mary Florence Drescher passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Home – Carmel Hospice, Medicine Hat on Tuesday, October 18, 2016, at the age of 77 years. Margaret was born on February 17, 1939, in Vantage, SK., where she was raised as well as in Mossbank, SK. Margaret married Martin Drescher on June 1, 1957, in Medicine Hat where they raised their family. She was a loving, caring and considerate wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She loved to play bingo, cards and do crafts, such as making quilted pillows and flower arrangements. Margaret will also be remembered by her famous jumbo raisin cookies. Until recently, she enjoyed watching baseball and loved to cheer for the Blue Jays. Margaret cherished special family gatherings with her children and grandchildren, as well as other family and friends. She had a smile, big heart and was always willing to give and share what she had. Margaret is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Martin; her eight children; Mike (Sheila) Drescher, Deb (Rod) Lippert, Sherry Nivens, Brenda (Andrew) Tokamp, Dennis (Laurie) Drescher, Greg (Terry) Drescher, Bonnie (Gabe) Graham and Jason (Tash) Drescher; along with her 19 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; siblings, Raymond (Bernie) Leech, Betty Hammel, Joyce Hanson, Linda (Joe) Aitchison, Donna Rockett, as well as many nieces and nephews. Margaret was predeceased by her parents, Beatrice and Robert Leech; brothers, Jimmy and Tommy; sister, Shirley (Richard) Jans; Martin’s parents, Maria and Gregor Drescher. The Funeral Service will be celebrated at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Friday, October 21, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. with Life Celebrant Gerry Getz officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery.
