1921 ~ 2016
Mr. Arthur F. Weiss passed away peacefully in the Sunnyside Nursing Home on Wednesday, November 2, 2016, at the age of 95 years. Arthur was predeceased by his parents, Ferdinand and Lena (Flaig) Weiss; his sisters, Martha (Elmer Boschee), Hilda (Emmanuel Heller), Elizabeth (Theophil Heller). He is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Art farmed and ranched with his parents until 1945 when he then purchased the John and Emily Nott place in the Eagle Butte district. He operated this farm and ranch alone, frequently riding or driving the eight miles north to visit his parents. Art enjoyed taking care of his top-notch herd of Hereford cattle. Among his interests were working with leather and using his two leather sewing machines to make gloves, halters, etc. Art was especially noted for having an eye for good horses. He was known for having many excellent saddle horses. The family would like to thank Dr. Bill Ruzycki and the staff at Sunnyside Nursing Home at South Country Village in Medicine Hat. Art will be greatly missed as a true old-time cowboy by all in the Cypress Hills. Art’s life will be honoured and his memory cherished without the proceedings of a formal funeral.
