Posted: November 14th, 2016

Mr. Adolph Ronald ‘Al’ Miller, beloved husband of Frances, passed away peacefully at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Tuesday, November 8, 2016, at the age of 89 years. Al was born on the Welsh ship “Metagama” when his parents were enroute to Canada. He quit school in grade eight to help on the farm in the Cypress Hills where he also lived in the community for a while before moving to Medicine Hat. In 1973, he married the love of his life, Frances, sharing a lifetime of memories together. Al was very active in the church where he faithfully served. His gentle spirit and smile reflected his love for the Lord. Al was an elevator agent and worked in the grain trade for 35 years serving in Walsh as well as the Linseed Oil Co. He was friendly and caring and looked forward to his daily coffee visits. Al attended a cooking class at the Medicine Hat College and worked at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital for awhile. At home he was the chef, cooking for family and friends alike. He enjoyed having cattle and farming the land and especially enjoyed hockey and baseball. Al loved to travel and did so whenever possible. Music was another of his enjoyments and he had a great singing voice. He loved his children dearly; they were special and important to him. Al will be forever remembered in the hearts of his wife, Frances; children, Dwen (Margo) Miller, Reg (Debbie) Miller, Robert (Lorraine) Miller, Kathy (Geritt) Kuipers, Patty (Birnie) Bornn, Verna (Monte) Wright; step-children, Ron (Donna) Meier, Don (Debbie) Meier, Elaine (Floyd) Welk and their children including numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will also be remembered by his siblings, Sophie Hough, Anne Holderbein, Darlene Busse and sister-in-law, Fely Miller as well as many nieces and nephews. Al was predeceased by his father, Henry in 1968; mother, Irene in 1981; siblings, Norman, Bill and Irene; brothers-in-law, Ken Hough and Harry Holderbein. The family wish to thank the doctors and nurses of the Medicine Hat Hospital on the 5th and 6th floors for their care and compassion.
