It is with broken hearts that we, the family, announce that Dodie (Dorothy) Jean Ruckaber, beloved partner of Dee Duncombe, passed away at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Monday, November 28, 2016, at the age of 63 years. Besides her partner, Dee, Dodie leaves to cherish her memory a sister, Darlene Ruckaber; nieces, Kori (Ken) Tarry, Kristi (Brandon) Peterson and their families; sister-in-law, Sheelagh (Jean-Paul) Coté as well as many, many friends. Dodie was predeceased by her parents as well as her Big Bro. Dodie was employed at the Medicine Hat College for numerous years teaching social work and communications. She had a masters degree in social work and was involved in various organizations including mental health and was a human rights activist. She loved to shop and especially the socializing that came along with it. The family would like to thank the nursing staff at St. Joseph’s Home as well as 4 and 5 West of the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital for the care they provided to Dodie. Friends attending the service are asked to dress casual. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so starting one hour prior to the Celebration of Dodie’s life which will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Monday, December 5, 2016, at 2:00 p.m with Father Tomy Manjaly celebrant. Interment will follow at the Hillside Cemetery. Those who cannot attend but wish to be a part of the service may watch the celebration via live streaming through Cook Southland’s website, starting at 2 p.m. on Monday.     So sorry for your loss. I used to go over to her house with my friend Anisa and visit with Dodie. She was one of the nicest people I have ever come across and was very lucky to know a lady like her. She will be missed and remembered forever
