ROSE DUCHSCHERER

Rose Duchscherer of Medicine Hat, beloved wife of the late Henry Duchscherer, passed away on Saturday, December 31st, 2016 at the age of 89 years. Rose leaves to cherish her memory her five children: Marlene (Joe) Kurtz, Ron (Marlene) Duchscherer, Ivan (Annalisa) Duchscherer, Carol (Gary) Kavanaugh, and Joann Scory (Tim Eichorn); eleven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; one brother, Jack (Verna) Bischoff; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Rose was predeceased by her husband, Henry Duchscherer; her parents, George and Felicia Bischoff; seven siblings and their spouses; as well as Henry’s siblings and their spouses. Rose was born in Leader, Saskatchewan on October 25th, 1927 and attended Nicefield School. She married Henry in Prelate, Saskatchewan on November 20th, 1946 and they farmed until retirement in 1976. Rose and Henry moved to Medicine Hat in August of 1990. She was a CWL member at St. Frances Church in Prelate, St. Mary’s Catholic Church and then Holy Family Parish in Medicine Hat. Rose loved spending time with her family and friends and loved to sing. She took great pride in watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and helping them grow. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, #1 Dunmore Road SE, on Wednesday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. and at HOLY FAMILY PARISH, 1451 Strachan Road SE, on Thursday from 10:00 to 10:55 a.m. Vigil Rites (Prayers) will be said at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL on Wednesday, January 4th, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at HOLY FAMILY PARISH on Thursday, January 5th, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Philip Le, Celebrant. A Private Interment will take place at Hillside Cemetery. Memorial gifts in Rose’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 200 – 325 Manning Road NE, Calgary, Alberta, T2E 2P5. My deepest sympathy Carol to you and your family. My Mom would of been 89 today and even though it’s been 12 years I still miss her as we always need our Mom but they are in a better place, they have gone home.
