It is with great sorrow the family of Thomas “Bert” Stevenson wish to announce that Bert passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 27th, 2017 at the age of 89 years. Bert leaves to cherish his memory three children, Tom Stevenson (Debbie Boswell) and children, Morgan, Taylor and Kenny, Sandra (Jim) Nash and children, Nicole (Lawry) and Jason (Jenna) and Debbie (Jamie) Wall and children, Trehia, Brody and Amber; five great grandchildren, Isobella, Johnathan, Cooper, Mason and Harper; one sister, Edna (Med) Demers; two sisters-in-law, Pearl (Robert) Young and Connie (Arnold) Haughland; special companion, Betty Harrower; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Bert was predeceased by his wife, Mabelle “Marie” Stevenson; his parents, Harry and Elizabeth Stevenson; three brothers, Harry, Jack and Alick; and three sisters, Anne, Eva and May. Bert was born on January 8th, 1928 at Leask, Saskatchewan, then moved to Shell Lake in 1941. At age 18 he went to work on the Alaskan Highway as a linesman where he met his wife of 54 years, Marie Rogers who passed away in March of 2009. They lived in various places throughout British Columbia before moving to Grande Prairie and in 1969 moved the family to Medicine Hat where he retired from AGT in 1983. Bert then took up his passion for golf by opening his own custom golf club repair shop. He continued his love of golf by touring the provinces golfing at well over 100 different courses. Bert was proud of golfing and “winning” various senior summer games at all age levels. He enjoyed companionship with his special friend, Betty Harrower. They enjoyed 5 years of various activities within the community as well as traveling. Bert was a past Grandmaster in the Masonic Lodge. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. The Funeral Service will be held at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, 1 Dunmore Road SE, on Wednesday, May 3rd, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Gary W. Goran officiating. A private interment will take place at Saamis Prairie View Cemetery.
