It is with profound sadness that the family of Edward Nelson of Calgary, formerly of Medicine Hat, announces his passing after a long and courageous battle with COPD and cancer. Ed passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at the age of 76 years. He is survived by his loving partner, Jean Runnalls of Calgary; his two daughters, Deb Olson (Jeff) of Lethbridge, AB and Carol Getz (Glenn) of Medicine Hat, AB; as well as their mother, Joan Friedman of Phoenix, AZ. Ed is also survived by his brother Fred Nelson (Verty), sister Joan Andersen (Warren) and Jean’s daughter Danica (Nick) all of Calgary, AB. Also left to cherish his memory are his 4 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, as well as nieces and nephews. Ed was predeceased by his parents, Floyd and Jean Nelson. At Ed’s request, no formal service will be held. A celebration of Ed’s life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made directly to the Meow Foundation, www.meowfoundation.com, a charity close to Ed’s heart.
