Mrs. Rita Rose Buxton (nee Schaufele), beloved wife of Mr. Roger Buxton of Red Deer, Alberta, passed from this life into the next, after a well-fought battle with cancer, at the Red Deer Hospice on Monday, November 20, 2017 at the age of 71 years. A life-long learner and teacher by profession, Rita passionately pursued many hobbies and interests throughout her life with 100% effort and enthusiasm. Rita loved spending time with her grandsons and provided unfailing support for her family, friends and community, who knew that they could call on her for help and guidance without any fear of criticism or judgment. Rita will be lovingly remembered by her devoted husband of fifty-one years, Roger Buxton, her sons, Blaise (Kelly) Buxton and Curtis (Angela Grace) Buxton and her g randsons, Logan Buxton and Callum B uxton. She will also be fondly remembered by her sister, Karen (David) Garland, aunts, Isabel Stripling and Naomi McCracken, sisters-in-law, Hazel (Chuck) Banush and Lera Buxton; brother-in-law, Adrian (Tina) Mohl; nieces, Kathleen (Neil) Jesske, Sheila (Joseph) Daraio, Kellie Garland (Kelly Dickie), Kelly Banush, Darcy (Lloyd) Banush Schulthies and Madison Elliott; nephews, Scott (Charisse) Garland, Michael Eadie, Mark Eadie (Helen), Brent (Jessica) Eadie and William Mohl; as well as several great nieces and nephews. Rita was preceded in death by her parents, Emanuel and Edna Schaufele, a sister-in-law, Shirley Mohl, a niece, Natasha Garland, and nephews, Ernie Mulenga and Derek Head. Rita’s family appreciates the professionalism, dedication and compassion of the doctors, nurses and staff at the Cross Cancer Institute, Central Alberta Cancer Centre, Units 21 and 32 of the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre and the Red Deer Hospice. A Celebration of Rita’s Life will be held at Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, 6287 – 67 A Street (Taylor Drive), Red Deer, Alberta on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with The Reverend Mary Ellen Moore officiating.
