Floyd Dale Peterson of Brooks, died peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, Nov. 23, 2017 in the Brooks Health Centre, after fighting valiantly with stage 4 lung cancer. He is survived by his former wife Peggy, his daughters, Sharon Boehme (Kim), Judy Redelback (Ron) and Donna O’Bear (Kelly). In addition, grandchildren, Russell Boehme, Brittany Langdon (Steven), Lindsey Boehme (Jude Sharpe), Brooklyn Boehme, Landon Redelback, Shea Redelback, Hayden Redelback, Haylie Redelback, Cameron O’Bear and Courtney O’Bear as well as great grandchildren Zakk and Ryder Langdon. Floyd’s sister Beth Christensen, ninety-nine yr. old cousin Althea Jones and numerous other cousins and family members. Floyd was pre-deceased by his wife Merna Nilsson, son Kenneth Dale (b. 1960), who survived three days, and a second son who was stillborn in 1964, his parents, Seth and Clara Peterson and siblings Woodrow, LaVaun and Louise. Floyd was born Feb. 29, 1932 in Stirling, Alberta and moved to the farm near Brooks with his family at the age of seven years. He lived and worked there till he retired to Medicine Hat in 1988. Floyd enjoyed gardening, biking, swimming and travel in his retirement years. He enjoyed watching FOX news, strolling through Costco and enjoying the samples offered there and visiting with all the employees. He could start up and carry a conversation with anyone he met. Floyd often expressed appreciation for friends who reached out to help him. Richard van Orman, his neighbors Bert and Joanne, Andy and Bob were valued friends in particular. Floyd loved his family and hated that he had to leave us all. Rest in Peace, you tough old Swede. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Dec. 1 at 1:00 pm, viewing at 11:00 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1864 Division Avenue, Medicine Hat, Alberta. Interment will follow at the Saamis Prairie View Cemetery. Family luncheon to follow.
