ALVIN ALBERT “SHORTY” HERINGER

December 1, 1936 – November 25, 2017

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Alvin Albert “Shorty” Heringer, beloved husband of Patricia, announce his passing at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Saturday, November 25, 2017, at the age of 80 years. Along with Patricia, Shorty leaves to cherish his memory four children, Sherry (Andy) McGrogan, Tom (Cindy) Heringer, Lorelei (Kirby) Lindal and Wendy (Kevin) Kroeker; grandchildren, Ryan McGrogan (Madi Sanchez), Courtney Heringer (Shawn Benedict), Samantha and Kylie Heringer, Taylor and Julia Lindal, Bailee Shantz (Michael Allan) and Hayden Kroeker; grandson-in-law, Sean O’Beirn; brother, Harry Heringer and sister, Erva Both. Shorty was predeceased by his parents; granddaughter, Kayle McGrogan; five brothers and one sister. Shorty was born in Rimbey, Alberta, raised in Carlos, Alberta and moved to Medicine Hat in 1974. He married the love of his life, Patricia Channon, on August 6, 1959, in Bashaw, Alberta. Shorty was the proud owner and operator of Paradise Valley Golf Course. After many years of enjoying the green grass, Shorty retired and sold the golf course in 2008. He was proud of his accomplishments throughout his life and loved his family immensely. His smile and wit will be missed by many! The Celebration of Shorty’s life will be held at Hillcrest Evangelical Church, 3785 – 13 Avenue S.E. on Friday, December 1, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Mark Bolender officiating.
