It is with great sadness that we, the family announce the passing of our dear son, brother, uncle and great-uncle, Edward Adrianus Bakelaar, on January 5, 2018, at the age of 64 years after a brief illness . He will be dearly missed by his loving father, Laine; brother, Bill (Anne), nieces, Lana (Mark), Joya and nephew, Daniel (Crystal) and their children as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his mother, Jane in June 2017. Ed was born in Rotterdam, Holland, immigrated with his family to Medicine Hat in 1957 and has made it his home since. A Memorial Service celebrating Ed’s life will be held at the Christian Reformed Church, 300 Primrose Drive SE, Medicine Hat on Friday, January 18, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor George Koopmans officiating. We had such a great friendship, and good times growing up through high school, and though I didn’t see Ed often once I moved away, I thought of him often.
