Her Journey’s Just Begun…

April 28, 1939 – January 15, 2018

My mom, Danielle O’Brien and Oralee Smale’s gramma, Kaysen, Kashton, & Keegan O’Brien’s great banma, Len Mann’s sister and Darlene’s aunt has been reunited with the one true love of her life, my dad, Larry Smale, her beloved son, Tony and her grandson Derrick Pedersen on January 15, 2018.

Her family and her role as mother, gramma and great bamma was the most important thing to my mom. This is where she drew her strength and left her legacy. Being with her family and friends was what she loved the most. My mom’s memory will be carried on in the legacy of us – the love she formed and touched by her never-ending love.

Our family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers and support in many heartfelt forms, from too many people to name individually, but involve the staff at the Medicine Hat & Foothills hospital, family and friends either through prayer and/or visits, neighbours and even random acts of kindness through total strangers.

In lieu of flowers and financial donations, please do a loving act of kindness to someone struggling, make someone laugh, eat a dessert or two before your meal, give a hug or say “I love you” to your special friend in my mom’s memory.

A celebration of my mom & brother’s life will be held in Creston B.C at a later day in May 2018.

Don’t think of her as gone away, her journeys just begun, life holds so many facets this earth is only one. Just think of her as resting from the sorrows and the tears in a place of warmth & comfort where there are no days or years. Think how she must be wishing that we could know today how nothing but our sadness can really pass away. And think of her as living in the hearts of those she touched, for nothing loved is ever lost and she was loved so much.
