1942 ~ 2018

Mr. Drew Robert McDonald, beloved husband of Linda, passed away on Friday, February 16, 2018, in Medicine Hat at the age of 76 years. Along with Linda, Drew leaves to cherish his memory, his son, Robert McDonald (Debbie Olson) and his children, Matthew, Benjamin and Alexa; his daughter, Rhonda Rasmussen (Alain Gagnon) and her children, Kimberly Evanoff and Dawnelle Rasmussen as well as his sister, Judy Gillis. He was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Verlie McDonald. Drew was born on January 19, 1942, in Eston, SK and completed high school in Moosomin, graduating in 1960. He married Linda Lloyd Stewart on December 29, 1962, at St. Andrew’s United Church in Regina, SK. Drew managed Beaver Lumber in Provost, AB and in 1972, he ventured into business and purchased the Esso Bulk Dealership. Drew was always community minded and was generous in nature and gave freely to charity. He was a proud member of the Al Azhar Shriners and the Scottish Rite, both in Medicine Hat. Some of Drew’s greatest achievements include being on the Al Azhar Motor Patrol and with his dear wife, Linda, the celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary in 2012. With his outgoing and humorous personality he enjoyed making people laugh as a clown (tying balloons and doing magic tricks) and even received PNSCA Clown Awards! He also enjoyed playing golf and watching Canadian football… especially if the Saskatchewan Roughriders were playing. Drew was a wonderful man who will be dearly missed by his family and friends. A Celebration of Drew’s life will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. Memorial donations in Drew’s name may be made directly to the Medicine Hat Shrine Club, 22 Bannon Ave. SW, Medicine Hat, Alberta, T1A 5G2.
