MARIA FRIEDA WILHELMINE TIEBS (nee; REINCKE)

October 23, 1932 – April 23, 2018

The family of Maria Frieda Wilhelmine Tiebs of Edmonton, Alberta formerly of Medicine Hat, AB and of Parksville, BC. Are deeply saddened to announce Maria’s passing on April 23, 2018 at the age of 85 years.

Maria was predeceased by her husband of 46 years, Wolfgang Erich Tiebs; her twin sister, Charlotte Alma Hanni Pardes; and her parents, Hermann and Marta Reincke.

She will be lovingly remembered by her two sons, Manfred (Susan) of Duffield, AB, and David (Karin) of Cranbrook, BC; her one daughter Sandy (Todd) Werre of St. Albert, AB; granddaughter Mandy (Greg) Herter; grandsons: Christopher Tiebs, Josh (Reyna) Tiebs, Nolan Werre, Joel Werre and great grandchildren: Grace Herter, Mia Herter and Wyatt Tiebs.

Maria was born in Röbel/Müritz, Germany on October 23, 1932. Upon moving to Canada in 1957, Maria and Wolfgang lived in Medicine Hat where she was a homemaker and sweet attendant to her family as well as a retail clerk in various jobs. Maria and her husband took early retirement and moved to Vancouver Island where they enjoyed a carefree life of: sailing, playing cards with friends, walking together, crocheting, knitting, and gardening. For the past several years Maria was closer to family in Alberta, as she bravely battled aging with her resistant spirit and beautiful smile.

A service of remembrance and celebration of her new life with Jesus will be held Thursday, May 3rd, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Connelly – McKinley St. Albert Funeral Home, 9 Muir Drive, St. Albert, AB.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Maria’s memory to, Capital Care Dickinsfield Recreation Department, 14225 – 94 Street, Edmonton, AB T5E 6C6.
