It is with great sadness that the family of Irene Lesko announce her passing on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at the age of 97 years. Irene leaves to cherish her memory her children: Sylvia Klapak; William (Margaret) Lesko; Peter (Maureen) Lesko; Larry (Helen) Lesko; Gregoria Uhl; Gregory (Sharlene) Lesko; Thomas (Kathy) Lesko; David (Angie) Lesko; 20 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. Irene was predeceased by her husband, Peter in February 1972; as well as her son-in-law, Andrew Klapak; her parents, Wasyl and Mary Stopanski; 6 sisters and 2 brothers. Irene was born on the farm near Candiac, Saskatchewan on October 7, 1920. She married Peter Lesko on October 13, 1943. After spending some time in Sudbury, Ontario, they settled on a farm in Montmartre, Saskatchewan until 1964 when they moved to Medicine Hat to begin a new chapter in their lives. Irene dedicated her life to her children and grandchildren and her home was the setting for many happy family gatherings filled with great food and lots of laughter. Irene loved spending time gardening, crocheting and cooking for her family. She was a caring and loving mother and grandmother and she will be greatly missed. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at ST. PATRICK’S ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH, 238 – 2nd Avenue NE, on Friday, May 4, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. with Father Tomy Manjaly, Celebrant. A Private Interment will take place in the family plot at Hillside Cemetery.
