It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Katherine Ens on May 26, 2018 at the age of 85 years. Katherine leaves to cherish her memory three children and their families: Linda (Ian) Ruetz, Pat Ens (John Hayashi) and Brad (Carol) Ens; grandchildren, Jessi (Damien) Lesko, Curtis Ruetz, Nicola Ens (Rune Clausen), Kenji Hayashi, Nicholas and Natasha Ens as well as two great-grandchildren, Samantha and Owen Lesko. Her memory will also live on in the hearts of her surviving siblings, Ann Ivan, Margaret Tiberio, Maria (Wayne) Migneault, Henry (Karen) Braun and Erna Luthi as well as other extended family and friends. Katherine was predeceased by her loving husband, John, their daughter Cheryl as well as her parents and three brothers. Katherine married John at a young age and they lived most of their 64 years together in Medicine Hat. A family was their first priority but she also showed an interest in numerous sports and activities which included curling, bowling, traveling, bingo and of course…GOLF. Many also know her for her very creative nature which progressed to her stitching many pictures that have and will be cherished by family and friends for evermore!! Through her positive personality and friendly, outgoing nature, people were drawn to be with Katherine. Her memory will live on in the hearts and minds of all those who shared in the privilege of knowing her. A Celebration of Katherine’s life will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Saturday, June 2, 2018, at 9:30 a.m. with Pastor David Pollard officiating. A time of fellowship will follow in the Cook Southland Reception Facility with Interment thereafter at Hillside Cemetery.
