Ruthann was predeceased by her parents Rosa and George Malmgren; her brothers Keith and Milton Malmgren, Ed Thorne; her sisters Gail and Glenys Malmgren; and spouses Gordon Egeland and George Ring. Ruthann was born on August 22, 1943 in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. At the age of 16 she married Gordon Egeland of Acadia Valley, AB and started a family. Over the years she cared for her family and worked several jobs such as cleaning, serving, cooking and others. She developed a love for cooking from her mother-in-law Lulu and Ruthann was known for her pies and perogies. As her health conditions began to deteriorate she was forced into early retirement but still enjoyed baking with family. She loved long scenic drives, country music and baby snuggles. She also enjoyed playing games right to the last days of her life. Before entering the hospital she spent her days at the Confederation Park seniors’ home in Calgary, AB. At Ruthann’s request and with the new owner’s gracious permission, we will be spreading her ashes at 1:00 pm June 23, 2018 on the Egeland Farm outside Acadia Valley where she made some of her happiest memories. Pastor Berni from the Oyen Evangelical Missionary Church will be officiating the service. Memorial gifts in Ruthann’s memory can be made to the Salvation Army. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank to the doctors and nurses at Peter Lougheed Hospital for all the care they gave Mom.
