Helen Gropp of Medicine Hat, beloved wife of the late Wallace “Wally” Gropp, passed away on Saturday, June 30th, 2018 at the age of 94 years. Helen leaves to cherish her memory her children: Diane (Brian) Smyth, Dave (Jacqueline) Gropp, Carol (Doug) Prince, and Rick (Tammy) Gropp; her grandchildren, Lauri Pellow, Heather (Dan) Oster, Scott (Heidi) Gropp, Todd (Vicki) Smyth, and Shaun (Cheryl) Smyth; her great grandchildren, Shaylin, Josh, Wyatt, Paige, Casey, and Andrew; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, Wally, Helen was predeceased by her parents, Andrew and Lillian Lofthang; her brothers, Walter and Dick; and her sisters, Eve and Shirley. Helen was born and raised in the Simmie, Saskatchewan area where she grew up. She met Wally at the age of 15 years and they were married three years later, settling on a farm in the Webb, Saskatchewan district. Helen was a hard worker, she helped on their large farm they had, helped Wally in his construction business building houses, and always helped out her children and grandchildren. She relished the labor and the satisfaction of helping others. In her later years, Helen enjoyed traveling to Mexico and to the United States. After Wally passed away, Helen continued to live in their home. She eventually moved to a condo where she lived for the past three years until she needed assisted living. A Celebration of Helen’s life, and the interment where she will be reunited with Wally, will take place at a later date.
