It is with heavy hearts that family of Robert Grant ‘Skinny’ Hall, beloved husband of Carol of Medicine Hat, announce he passed peacefully while surrounded by his family at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Saturday, July 7, 2018, at the age of 89 years. His spirit will be carried on by his five children, Fred (Estelle), Pat, Wes (Gail) all of Medicine Hat and Daniel (Tom), Teresa (Dean) of Calgary along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and an extended family of relations and friends from every walk of life. He is reunited with his parents, Fred and Jean as well as brothers, George and Fred. Grant was born and raised in Medicine Hat and played and worked there his entire life. He was an avid sportsman enjoying the outdoors while hunting or fishing. He loved playing hockey, baseball, golf and bowling. Grant volunteered a great deal of time and energy to the Medicine Hat Golf & Country Club, helping establish the foundation for the course people play on today. His efforts were recognized through a lifetime membership there. He also helped upgrade the Elkwater Golf Course, building new tee boxes and greens upon his retirement. Grant was a longtime member of the Medicine Hat Royal Canadian Legion and would go down for coffee each morning or spend Friday evenings at the meat draw with friends. The family would like to thank the staff of Memory Lane in Meadowlands and the nurses and doctors on 5 West and 2 North for treating Grant with such dignity and care. The family will hold a private interment for Grant. A Come and Go Celebration of Grant’s life will take place in the canteen at the Royal Canadian Legion, 702 – 2 Street S.E. on Friday, July 13, 2018, between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Grant’s name may be made to the Poppy Fund of the Medicine Hat Legion c/o Robertson Memorial Branch #17, 702, 2 Street S.E., Medicine Hat, Alberta, T1A 0E1.
