KEATING, Joyce Elizabeth

Posted: July 11th, 2018

June 26, 1929 – July 5, 2018

Joyce Keating (Nee Reesor) passed away on July 5, 2018 at age 89. Joyce was born in Bassano and as a young girl moved with her parents, brother and 2 sisters to Medicine Hat. She met Jim, her soul-mate and life partner in high school and they shared 67 wonderful years. Joyce had tremendous energy: moving to New York while raising 4 children, earning her MSc in Speech Pathology and writing a text book while instructing at college. In 1971 the family returned to Calgary where Joyce worked with the Calgary Board of Education before retiring to Kelowna. Joyce cherished friends and family. She was never too busy or far away to keep in touch, share vacations, a meal, a song or glass of Scotch. Witty and never at a loss for words Joyce constantly reflected on past joys in her life quipping “It was good while it lasted.” Joyce is lovingly remembered by her husband Jim, sister Shirley Johnston, sons Ross (Joan); John (Lynn), Brian (Dee) and daughter Nancy (Bill); and her grandchildren Allison (Shawn), Kendra, Laura (David), and Steven. A private Celebration of Joyce’s Life will be held at a future date. Condolences may be forwarded through www.firstmemorialfuneralkelowna.com
