1942 ~ GARY SYVERSON ~ 2018

Posted: August 7th, 2018

Gary Richard “Sy” Syverson, beloved husband of Donna Syverson of Medicine Hat, passed away on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at the age of 75 years. Gary is also survived by two children, Shawn (Lyndsay) Syverson of Calgary and Dana (Colin) Telfer of Ottawa; five grandchildren, Keanan, Blake, Kyla, Ava and Colby; one brother, Bud (Micheline) of Medicine Hat; six nephews; and one niece. “Big Sy” was one of the best, to us, the VERY BEST. A few choice words that describe Gary: LOVING husband of 49 years, father, father-in-law, brother, grand papa to 5 and 1 grand puppy, uncle and friend. LOYAL to his family, his friends and his hometown. SPORTS FANATIC any sport, any time, who watches 188 regular season baseball games, seriously?? STRONG WILLED…A.K.A. Stubborn as you know what. PASSIONATE COACH & MENTOR, with a true love for the game, who thought of his players as sons. TOUGH as nails. CARING friend to many and all. Gary loved his coffee gang and 4 o’clock beer buddies at the Corona. He was a TRUE BEAUTY. To know him was to love him, sad he is no longer here, we will love him always. A Celebration of Gary’s Life will be held at the CORONA HOTEL, 721 – 5 Street SE, on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 with eulogies starting at 4:00 p.m. and fellowship to follow.
