1931 ~ HELEN SCHICK ~ 2018

Helen Schick of Medicine Hat passed away on Wednesday, September 19th, 2018 at the age of 86 years. Helen was the proud mother of four children who will cherish her memory forever: Debbie Omand of Vancouver, Rita (Ken) Mardian of Burstall, Kim (Hope) Schick of Medicine Hat, and Janice Schick (JD Sharp) of Ottawa. She absolutely adored her seven grandchildren: Cory (Jenn) Mardian, Colin (Courtney) Mardian, Travis (Deanna) Omand, Conor Omand, Christina (Lane) Maier, Michelle Schick and Rae Sharp; and her five great- grandchildren were the apples of her eye: Nicolas, Luke, and Nate Mardian, Olivia and Brooklyn Mardian. She also leaves her sisters Rene Hornell and Lee Bickner to remember their many years together. She will be fondly remembered by her dear friends Denise and Kay at Cypress View Foundation. She was predeceased by her husband Alvin (Bob) Schick, her sisters Kay Nelson, Frieda Grunwald, Len Trautwein, and her son-in-law Michael Omand. Helen was born on the family farm near Krupp, Saskatchewan. She married Bob in 1951 and they spent most of their happy life living in Burstall, Saskatchewan where they farmed, tended a large, delicious garden and enjoyed life with their friends and family. Helen loved doing crossword puzzles and playing Scrabble with friends. Helen and Bob moved into Medicine Hat in 2001 and enjoyed the city together until Bob passed away in 2003. In 2011 Helen moved into the Cypress View Foundation. She made great friends there and felt very much at home in the bright and welcoming facility.
