LEONARD SCHERGER

Leonard Scherger went home to meet his Lord and Saviour on Saturday, November 24, 2018, after a courageous battle with cancer. He leaves to cherish his memory three daughters, Brenda (Rene) Wagner and their children, Allison and Waylon; Carol (Russell) Sutton and their son, Emery; Verna (Mitch) Batten and their children, Faith and Laine. He will be lovingly remembered by his two sons, Wilfred (Dawn) Scherger and their children, Ryan and Stephanie; Ron (Doreen) Scherger and their daughter, Shantel; eight great-grandchildren; five sisters as well as his companion, Joyce Mastel. He was predeceased by his wife, Lillian in 1998; grandson, Trevor in 2015; parents, Joseph and Margaret Scherger as well as five brothers and two sisters. Leonard was born on October 10, 1935 on the Scherger farm. He married Lillian Kuss on June 4, 1957. They lived on the Scherger farm until they retired to Medicine Hat in June of 1987. Leonard’s passion was farming with his sons. He enjoyed riding motorbike,      fishing, boating, dancing, bowling, golfing, curling, swimming, going for coffee, riding bicycle and especially taking his dog Blackie on runs with his scooter. He will be        remembered for his friendly personality and his determination to make the most of every day. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at the Funeral Home            starting one hour prior to Vigil Prayers and also at the Church starting one hour prior to the Funeral Mass. Vigil Prayers will be recited at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Wednesday, November 28, 2018, at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Parish, 1451 Strachan Road S.E., Medicine Hat on Thursday, November 29, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. with Interment following at Hillside Cemetery.
