BERGEN, Ralph David

July 22, 1954 – November 29, 2018

Ralph David Bergen (“Chief Ralph”), age 64 of Aldersyde, Alberta passed away on November 29, 2018 at the South Calgary Health Campus.

Ralph is survived by his wife of 28 years Pam, along with 4 Children, Jared (Candace), Jodette, Faythe and Desi, along with his grandchildren, Taylor, Tanner, Tyson, and Khloe. Ralph is also survived by his parents Abram and Margaret Bergen along with sisters Karen (Ron) Reimer, Val (Tom) Davidson and brothers Louie (Deb), Robbie, Richard (Diana) and many Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews and countless family and friends.

Ralph started working in the Road Construction industry as a young man and was quickly promoted to a supervisor role by his early 20’s. With his hard work ethic, quick wit and generous spirit he made many life long friends along the Construction trail. Ralph was passionate about what he did and inspired so many young people to find the passion in their lives.

Among those he inspired was his 4 children, whom he absolutely adored and that feeling was mutual. Ralph loved to tease and joke with all his kids and any other kid that could take it. Ralph had a special way with all children.

Ralph retired from Construction and began to pursue his passion for rodeo, along with his wife they built an arena, it wasn’t long before Ralph had the arena filled with aspiring young cowboys that wanted to learn the art of Bronc riding.

For over a decade the “Buckin A Ranch” became home to any cowboy needing a place to practice, stay, round up a meal or just stop by for some good company. Ralph enjoyed everyone who darkened the door, his infectious character kept the kitchen full of laughter and the bronc arena full of passion.

Ralph was the type of person if you ever met him…you would never forget him. It is with great sadness that we are saying goodbye for now. All who knew him, know full well that heaven has gained one helluva character!

The Celebration of Ralph’s Life will be held at Lynnwood Ranch near Okotoks on December 12th at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Ty Pozzobon Foundation (PO Box 21082, Prince Albert Saskatchewan) dedicated to promote the health and well being for cowboys inside and outside the rodeo arena.
