“Family ties are precious threads

No matter where we roam

They draw us close to those we love

And pull our hearts toward home.”

On the morning of April 17th, 2019, we lost the head of our family, Ken Schmidt of Redcliff, AB. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Gail, and his most prized possessions, his family. Sandy (Cody and Christy, Shayna, William, and Wyatt); (Kyler and Ashley, Knoxx and Jury) Moser, Penny (Trina) Schultz, Kendra and Mitch (Kelsi and Adam, Colton) Seifert, Jolaine (Jordon and Jared) Hepfner; brother Dennis (Ruth) Schmidt; sister-in-law, Pat Schmidt; brother-in-law, Joe (Laurie) McFadzen; sister-in-law, Elaine Fischer; numerous nieces and nephews; and his favourite four-legged companion, Brewster. Ken’s career started at Dominion Glass and carried on to Cancarb Ltd. until his retirement in 1994. During this time he also served on the Redcliff Volunteer Fire Department for over 50 years, several of those years as fire chief. Ken was also a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion Redcliff Branch. Always an active sports participant, Ken loved to golf and play hockey. He coached hockey for several years and later in his life was his grandsons number one fan. A Private Family Service of Remembrance will be held at a later date to celebrate his life.
