1924 ~ 2019

Mrs. Beatrice Agnes Pederson passed away in Bow Island on Friday July 26, 2019, at the age of 94 years, beloved wife of the late Mr. Levi Pederson. Beatrice leaves to cherish her memory six children: Arnold Pederson, Leonard Pederson, Brian Pederson, Miriam Herman, Anita Runions, and Bernice (Cory) Fode. Numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive Beatrice. Her son Virgil and daughter Hazel predeceased her. Beatrice was born on October 15, 1924, in Abbey, Saskatchewan. This is also where she was schooled and forced to quit school to help on the farm. She married Levi Pederson on January 5, 1943, and she embraced her role as the homemaker for the family. Even without formal schooling, her mathematical skills were exceptional and she utilized them regularly while maintaining the farm financials. A strong and independent woman, she wasn’t afraid to roll up her sleeves and help fixing any broken machinery. Beatrice loved her family and grandchildren often preparing big meals for all to enjoy and supported watching their activities throughout the years. She loved to read and was very up to date on current events and politics. She was a long term supporter of the NDP party and her quick wit and good sense of humor made her a pleasure to visit with, especially if you wanted to talk politics with this strong NDP supporter! She will be dearly missed. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Thursday, August 1, 2019, between 1:00 p.m. and 1:55 p.m. A celebration of Beatrice’s life will follow at 2:00 p.m. with interment thereafter at Hillside Cemetery.
