Owen Hagemann peacefully left this life on December 4, 2019 with his children at his side. He was born in Medicine Hat, the oldest of three boys to Anton (Tony) and Ida Hagemann on November 17, 1954. Owen completed his schooling in Medicine Hat and graduated from Medicine Hat High School. On July 4, 1981, he married Betty Wingert in Medicine Hat. They made their home in Medicine Hat and Owen pursued a career in power engineering. His career saw him taking work in Calgary, Medicine Hat, Kitimat and Fort MacMurray. Owen and Betty were blessed with a son, Adam in 1982 and a daughter, Amy in 1986. He was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping trips with his family. Owen was passionate about sports. In his younger years he played all kinds of sports with football and baseball being his favourites. Owen was a hockey fan and loved to attend the Tiger’s games. He cherished his family trips to cheer on Team Canada at the World Junior Hockey Championships, and especially his trips to the Czech Republic and Russia. Owen was fond of the friendships he made through his participation in the Medicine Hat Dart League. After becoming a resident at River Ridge Seniors Village, Owen found a new love and passion for live music and dancing. Owen always looked forward to his visits from his children and his dogs. Owen is survived by his children; Adam of Medicine Hat and Amy of Brooks; and his brothers, Art (Marlene) and Harry both of Medicine Hat. He is preceded in death by his wife, Betty; and his parents Anton (Tony) and Ida Hagemann of Medicine Hat. A special thanks goes out to the caring souls at River Ridge Seniors Village as well as the staff of the Medicine Hat Hospital who took such good care of Owen in his final days.
