1926 ~ MELVIN “MEL” FAUSER ~ 2020

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mel Fauser, beloved husband of Florence (Wittig) on February 13, 2020 at the age of 93. Mel was born March 5, 1926 in Surprise, SK. After the death of his parents in 1926 and 1928, he was raised by his grandparents, Andrew & Christina Fauser in Medicine Hat and on the family farm in Golden Prairie, SK. Throughout his life he had many careers, including city bus driver, real estate agent/owner, and his favorite job was later in life being a tour bus driver and driving bus for the Medicine Hat Blue Jays. He loved all sports but especially baseball, hunting and fishing. His favorite hobby later in life was pony chariot racing. Mel won the Emerson Porter Memorial Trophy in Medicine Hat three years in a row. He was known as “gentleman Mel” on the racing circuit. Mel is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Florence; two daughters, Bonnie Penner of Calgary and Arlene (Fred) Ohlmann of Medicine Hat; grandchildren, Sara (Bryce) Stickel, Jennifer (Chris) Mossey, Michelle Penner, Charlie Penner; and six great grandchildren Payton, Levi, Jacob, Olivia, Liam and Shay. The family would like to thank the staff at Haven Care at South Country Village for the outstanding and loving care given to Mel for the last two years. The Funeral Service will be held at TEMPLE BAPTIST CHURCH, 606 – 7th Street SW, Medicine Hat, on Monday, February 17th, 2020 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Bob McGougan officiating.     My sincerest condolences to Mel’s family. I remember the many years that he drove bus for us and know he was very well liked by everyone that got to know him on those trips. Thinking of you all.
