1939 ~ BENEDICT LANZ ~ 2020

We are saddened to announce the sudden passing of Benedict (Ben/Benny) Michael Lanz, beloved husband of Penelope Lanz, at the age of 80 years in Medicine Hat, AB on March 8th, 2020. Ben was born on April 3rd, 1939 in Schuler, AB. He was a long time employee of GOODYEAR until his retirement in 2001. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his children Pamela (Steven) Bohnet, Shane (Tasha) Lanz and Chad Lanz; his cherished grandchildren, Trinity Lanz, Julia and Hayden Bohnet; siblings, Frank, John, Ed, Tony Lanz, Mary Bitz, Francis Gaetz, Veronica Sehn and Kathy Peterson; many brother and sister in-laws; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Ben was predeceased by his parents, Erasmus and Katherine Lanz; his brothers, Leo and Balzer; sister, Maggie; mother and father-in-law, Bun and Peggy Marriott; and brothers- in-law, Jerry Bitz, Tim Sehn, Shawn Marriott, and Bruce Marriott; and sister-in-law, Carolyn Marriott. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, #1 Dunmore Road SE, on Wednesday, March 11th, 2020 from 6:00 to 6:55 p.m. Vigil Rites (Prayers) will be held at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL on Wednesday, March 11th, at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at ST. PATRICK’S ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH, 282 – 2nd Avenue NE, on Thursday, March 12th, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Tomy Manjaly, Celebrant.     Entire Lanz Family,
    We are so sorry to hear the passing of Ben. Such a great guy and great friend to us all. There was a special relationship between Ben and my dad. I know they will both be looking over us now. You are in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. You will be missed “SAM”.
