MERVIN HAUCK

Posted: May 20th, 2020

1955 ~ 2020

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our dear brother, Mervin Hauck at his home in Nova Scotia from heart failure on May 11, 2020 at the age of 64.

He is survived by his soul mate and life partner Arno of 35 years.

He leaves to cherish his memory his brothers and sisters: Sandra (Jim) Schafer, Nancy (Lyndon) Reinhardt, Randy (Sharla) Hauck, Wally Hauck, Vance (Roxanne) Hauck along with his many adoring nieces and nephews.

Mervin is predeceased by his parents Matthew (2017) and Rosemarie (2015) Hauck.

Mervin was able to light up a room with his persona, energy and charm. His love for his family went beyond measure. He was blessed with a green thumb and loved to nurture his beautiful flower gardens and entertain and made wonderful meals for family and friends to enjoy. Mervin loved to dance, sing and have a good time. The ocean and countryside were his back yard and he walked many a mile with his beloved dogs Jax and Juno. He was an educator for most of his life with many degrees and with that came many intriguing conversations in which he provided his knowledge and wisdom.

Mervin will be lovingly remembered by his family, friends and all the countless lives he touched over the years. It gives us great comfort knowing he is in the arms of Mom and Dad now.

Que Sera, Sera dear brother, we will miss you dearly!

At Mervin’s request there will be no formal funeral service.

Arno, Al and I are so very sad to hear of Mervin’s passing!! He was such a wonderful human being! When he would work for us over the summers we would laugh and laugh together. Everyone in the lumber yard at Rona would make quick friends with him when we would go grab supplies. He was so easy to talk with and we often tell our staff stories that he had told us. He was always so devoted to you and spoke so proudly of your accomplishments. We were so happy that he was allowed to preside over my dad’s funeral and became a source of comfort to our three kids when they attended Bishop O’Byrne high. He and I had many comforting conversations about my Dad’s passing and it gave me peace. I wish you peace in the coming days and months ahead and hope you know his memory will be ever present for many of us. Regards, Elaine and Al McNaughton.

I am so saddened to hear of Merv’s passing. I worked with Merv so many years ago at Camp Cadicasu, back when Father Eric Nelson was the director. Merv was a great friend, and so wonderful with the kids! We had many laughs, but also many heartfelt and intellectual conversations. I will never forget his stories about his disco dancing competitions, and his demonstrations of his rad dance skills! I will always remember his old car, with the wings on the back, that carried so many of us back and forth to camp every weekend! After not seeing him for some time, I was delighted to see that, like me, he was also working with the Calgary Catholic School District, and I enjoyed seeing him at District events. Merv was enthusiastic and funny, but also gentle and thoughtful. He will be missed, but fondly remembered by so many people. My heartfelt condolences to Merv’s family, close friends, and his partner, Arno.

  30. Brett D says:

For some reason just out of the blue, though spirituality tells me otherwise, Merv popped into my head. He was not only a family friend in my earlier days, but a mentor of sorts to me. We had some great times, actually nothing but great times together. He was with my family through the good, and bad times, and though it’s been roughly 30 years now, he still is not forgotten. It’s saddens me to see this, but Merv, you my friend are FOR SURE in that better place!🙏 Thank you for all you did, and all the great memories. May you be at rest.

    Brett.
