On Saturday Aug 22, 2020, Lorraine Jackle of Medicine Hat peacefully passed away at the age of 85 years. She is survived by three sons, Glenn and his wife Bonnie of Swift Current, Bradley and Howard, both of Fox Valley, and her daughter Lana Smith and her husband Trace of Delisle, Sask.

Lorraine also leaves 6 Grandchilden: Jordan (Abby), Braden and Heather Jackle, Adrienne (Tyler) French and Tyler and Tamara Link as well as 4 great grandchildren, Ellie and Magnus Jackle and Sophie and Emily French. Also surviving are her brother, James (Delores) Mutschler of Regina, sisters June (Allen) Donst and Doris Franko, sisters-in-law Eileen Jackle and Myrtle (Ian) Hope of Medicine Hat and a brother-in-law Frank Schlosser of British Columbia, and many nieces and nephews.

Lorraine was predeceased by her husband Rudy Jackle in 2007, her parents Philip and Katherine Mutschler, and her sister Irma (Fernie) Glass and seven of Rudy’s siblings.

Lorraine was born in Maple Creek and raised in the community of Fox Valley, Sask. At the age of 16 she started her life-long career working for Canada Post where she worked until retiring at the age of 65. Mom loved her job and was community-minded. She volunteered to the various projects undertaken by the town, including many hours helping to prepare and edit the Fox Valley/ Liebenthal Community history book.

Rudy and Lorraine were married in 1955 and raised their children on the family farm. Mom loved photography (even though she often had the flashbulb in her mouth while taking the picture), sewing, reading and teaching Sunday School. She loved travelling, and fulfilled her dream to visit the Taj Mahal in India. She also visited Morroco, Spain and Portugal and enjoyed a Caribbean cruise.

Following the death of her husband in 2007 Lorraine moved to Medicine Hat in 2008. Her Christian faith was an important part of her life, and she was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. The last three years of her life were spent at Haven View Care Center, and her family are very grateful for the wonderful care provided by the staff there. Lorraine’s family would also like to thank Pastor Edel for providing comfort to their mother in her last hours, and to Pastor Kahle for officiating at her funeral.

On Saturday, August 29th a viewing will take place at the Fox Valley Community Hall from 11 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. Following the viewing, everyone is invited to attend the graveside service at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery located on Twp. Rd. 164 six miles south of Fox Valley and one mile east of Highway 21. Please bring your lawn chair.

As an expression of sympathy, those wishing to remember Lorraine may do so with a gift to Parkinsons Canada, Canadian Lutheran World Relief, or the Fox Valley Rec Board.
