1930 ~ Frank Joseph Gechter ~ 2020

The family of Frank Gechter sadly announce his passing into the arms of Jesus Christ his savior on September 1, 2020 at the age of 90 years. Frank leaves behind his wife, Rose of nearly 69 years; sons, Rodney (Conny), Dwayne (Eleanor) and Brian. He is also survived by his grandchildren, David (Jennifer), Tara (Clayton), Krista, Melanie, Michelle (Jason) and Shaun; six great grandchildren. His sister, Annette Huisman; sister-in-law Raymonde Gechter; brother-in-law Dennis (Nova) Kletchko and numerous nieces and nephews. Frank was predeceased by his brothers, Alois (Elizabeth) and Bernhard; daughter-in-law Debra. Frank was born January 28, 1930 to Ralph and Alice Gechter in Medicine Hat. He was raised and lived on the family farm at Whitla until 2000 when he semi-retired in Medicine Hat but he still had an interest in farming and his Angus cattle (rarely missing a cattle sale). Frank belonged to numerous organizations and was a founding member of the Medicine Hat Co-op serving 30 years as director. He also served 14 years as a delegate for the UFA. Frank was on the Whitla community board and helped in 1969 and 2006 write the Whitla History books. Frank also enjoyed curling and playing cribbage, especially with Brian and Dwayne.
