SHARON LOUISE ROSE FLANAGAN

Posted: September 21st, 2020

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sharon Flanagan, who died on July 31st, one day before her 70th birthday. She leaves to mourn her devoted children Stéphane and Marieke (Patrick); her grandchildren Caleb, Eloïse, and Béatrice; Corinne mother of Caleb; her brother Tom and sisters Margaret, Maureen, Anne-Marie and Jane; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Although Sharon suffered ill health for many years, she always maintained her sense of humour and keen interest in others. She will forever be remembered as generous, kind-hearted, and as someone who fought for the underdog. Her greatest joy was found in the service of others, and her passion and gift for teaching followed her into retirement, as she tutored her grandkids and acted as host mom to foreign students. Due to COVID, the family will hold a private service, and a proper Irish wake once it is safe to do so. In lieu of flowers, donations are encouraged to the Cross Cancer Institute (where mom waxed poetic about the staff), to Wheels of Hope (without whom she could not have received the excellent care she did), or to the Terra Centre, where she devoted countless volunteer hours. She was always loving, and will be forever loved.

To The Flanagans: I’m so very sorry for your loss! We went to McCoy High together through school and I remember Sharon as a a lovely and fun loving classmate and friend.

  2. Bernice Lambert says:

I have only good memories of Sharon – the times of our youth plus that long ago weekend we spent together as her house guests. I remember many laughs shared, warm hospitality and a happy re-connection of high school friends.

I am glad that the pain has stopped but sad for the loss we all feel. From today’s tributes I know you leave a legacy of love and cherished memories. R.I.P. old friend.
