DR. FLORENCE MELCHIOR

1956 ~ 2020

Florence passed away at St. Joseph’s Home – Carmel Hospice in Medicine Hat on Tuesday, November 3, 2020, at the age of 64 years. She is survived by her beloved son, Logan MacDougall; precious grandchildren, Kai and Zoe; eleven siblings, Richard, Floyd, Edith, Marie, Frank, John, Betty, Michael, Ron, Lorraine and Greg as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Florence will also be remembered by her nursing colleagues and the former RN students who passed through her classes. She was predeceased by her parents, Margaret (nee Benkendorf) and Lawrence Melchior and one sister, Millie Watson. The family would like to thank Dr. Cathy Horsman, RN Danette and HCA’s Jamie and Debbie from Home Care for many years of care and to many good neighbours and friends: Betty and Johnnie Dyck, Mary Jean Thompson, Susan Sexsmith and Deacon Terry Olson and his wife Theresa. Also, thank you to St. Joseph’s Home for their wonderful care and support. A private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to MHC RN program, the Arthritis Society, The Canadian Association for the History of Nursing, or to St. Patrick’s Parish, Medicine Hat.
