1926 ~ 2020

Charles Rieger, beloved husband of Pearl, passed away at St. Joseph’s Home – Carmel Hospice in Medicine Hat on Sunday, December 13, 2020, at the age of 94 years. Along with Pearl, left to cherish Charles’ memory are his children, Gerry (Marie) Rieger of Kamloops, BC., Rod (Pam) Rieger of Vernon, BC., and Darrell Rieger (Sheryl Zimmerman) of Redcliff, AB.; grandchildren, Melissa (Russ) Lay (their children, Meghan and Blair), Natalie (Jeff) Forster (their children, Reid and Andrew), Brad Rieger (Samantha Faltus) (their son, Liam) and Devon Rieger as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Charles was born on March 6, 1926, in Grayson, SK., to a family of 12. He and Pearl were married in Melville, SK., on October 19, 1948, and this year celebrated 72 years of marriage. Charles was always there with a helping hand whether it was to build the kids’ houses, renovations or fixing things the family couldn’t get working. He loved to just tinker around his garage fixing things or making things; he seemed to always have something on the go. Charles passed down a little of those skills to all of the family. Thanks Dad! Some of Charles’ other hobbies included fishing, going to casinos, working outside, cars and wood working. He was a 20 year member of the Army, Navy and Airforce Club in Vernon, BC., as well as the Redcliff Legion for the past few years. Charles was a very loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. His outgoing personality and his gift of socializing will be deeply missed. Charles will be silently remembered by family and friends without the proceedings of a formal funeral service.
