Posted: December 18th, 2020

Herbert (Herb) Martin passed away at South Country Village on Monday, December 7, 2020 just about one month shy of his 96th birthday. He is survived by his two sons, Ron and Ken (Linda); two granddaughters, Christa Teeple and Angie Flundra; two great grandchildren, Braeden and Kiara; one brother, Melvin; sisters-in-law, Doris Martin, Marijke Martin and Marjorie Brent; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Herb was predeceased by his parents, Christian and Bertha; brothers, Ben and Marvin; and sister, Esther Muhlbeier. He was also predeceased by the love of his life Viola (Vi) who passed away on July, 2007 after 57 years of happy marriage. He missed her greatly these past 13 years. Herb was born on January 13, 1925 on a farm near Golden Prairie. He was drafted into the army but shortly after WWII ended so never saw active duty. After, he got a job mixing cement for Stober Construction who poured many sidewalks in Maple Creek. After this he worked for Beny Motors in the service department and remained with the company through his adult years right up to retirement. Herb loved to sing and sang in many church choirs, mixed quartets and male quartets. Together with his wife Vi, they moved to South Country Village over 20 years ago and loved their lives there. A big thank you to all of the staff that lovingly cared for Herb over the years in Haven, Sunnyside and Havenview. He appreciated his care givers. In view of the COVID19 restrictions a private interment will be held on Friday, December 18 with Rev. Bob Findley and Rev. Daryl Martin officiating. A memorial service may be planned for a later date. Condolences may be sent through www.saamis.com or to condolences@saamis.com subject heading Herbert Martin. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to

One Condolence for “1925 ~ HERB MARTIN ~ 2020”

  1. Lorraine & Harvey FAUSER says:

Our very deepest sympathy to all of you in the passing of our very dear and loving cousin, Herb! He was another cousin sent into our world by God to make this world a better place, and he certainly contributed to that during his life, along with his ever so dear wife Vi, who passed away far too soon in 2007. Our love, hearts, thoughts & prayers are with everyone of you as you struggle with this very sad and difficult time in your lives, Lorraine & I included! He was such a faithful servant of God, but now he’s finally back together with his dear wife and singing once again together with her in Heaven! “How Beautiful Heaven Must Be” & “What A Day That Will Be”, are the TWO songs he sang in the 3 + 1 Quartet with cousins Benny (his brother) & Melvin Fauser, along with the Pastor of the “Haven of Rest”, for my Mother’s funeral in 2010! He’s now safely there! God bless you all and comfort you! Our love, thoughts and prayers are with all of you!
