1933 ~ DOREEN RIEGER ~ 2021

Doreen Rieger of Medicine Hat, beloved wife of the late Elmer Rieger, passed away on Wednesday, February 24th, 2021 at the age of 87 years. Doreen leaves to cherish her memory her sister, Doris (Carmen) Closs as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by husband, Elmer, in 2005; infant daughter, Teresa Lee Rieger in 1955; parents, John and Barbara Sackman; brothers, Gottlieb, John, Bill, George, and Leonard; and sisters, Irene Pudge and Emma Heather. Doreen was born in Medicine Hat, AB on May 20th, 1933. It was here that she attended school and met her husband who she married in 1951. She worked at Dominion Glass in Redcliff, AB and then at Smitty’s restaurant in Medicine Hat. In her spare time Doreen loved to go shopping. She spent many years bowling and enjoyed many friendships. No matter the circumstances she would always make time for coffee with friends and family. She will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her. A private family graveside service will take place at Hillside Cemetery with Pastor Shane Andrus officiating.
