Posted: March 8th, 2021

Florence Violet Fauser of Medicine Hat, beloved wife of the late Melvin “Mel” Fauser, passed away on Wednesday, March 3rd, 2021 at the age of 90 years. Florence leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Bonnie Penner of Calgary and Arlene (Fred) Ohlmann of Medicine Hat; grandchildren, Sara (Bryce) Stickel, Jennifer (Chris) Mossey, Michelle Penner, and Charlie Penner; and great-grandchildren, Payton, Levi, Jacob, Olivia, Liam, and Shay; as well as her special nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her husband, Melvin; parents, John and Annie Wittig; three brothers; and one sister. She was born to the late John and Annie Wittig on October 16th, 1930 on the family’s homestead in rural Saskatchewan near Burstall, SK. Florence attended primary school in Burstall and then went on to receive her teaching credentials from the Normal School in Moose Jaw. She returned to her home district of Burstall to begin her career as a teacher. It was while teaching there that she met Mel Fauser. She married Mel in the Fall of 1950 in Medicine Hat and then they made Medicine Hat their home in 1951. For many years she worked alongside Mel in their family-owned business, Mickey’s Transfer while raising their young family. Once the children began school she worked at Eaton’s until her retirement in the mid 70’s. Florence had a gracious, gentle, loving personality and always made people around her feel comfortable and valued. She made friends everywhere she went. She enjoyed 5-pin bowling, volunteering at her church, and spending time with the “Muffin Club”.

Florence was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as a grandma. Florence was immensely proud of her family and prayed for them daily. She leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories. Dear Bonnie and Arlene. I just saw your parents obituaries. It is so sad when our parents leave us. We’ve never lived without them. I too lost mom Sept. 2020, and I miss her dearly.
Your mom was such a sweetheart and always made me feel warm.
    My thoughts are with you.
