1933 – 2021

Ruby (Bentz) Wutzke, beloved wife of the late David Wutzke, passed away peacefully at home on March 3, 2021 at the age of 87. Ruby leaves to cherish her memory her one son, Darcy (Fern) Wutzke of Calgary; three daughters, Eileen (Glen) Sletvold and Dianna (Bill) Hoffman, both of Medicine Hat, and Delphine (Douglas) Ramsden of Vancouver; two grandchildren, Kevin (Raelynn Bell) Brannan, and Jeffery Brannan; four great-grandchildren, Cole, Chazz, Kevin Jr. and Michael; her much-loved dogs, Sparky and Roadi; and relatives and friends. Ruby was predeceased by her parents, George and Theresa Bentz. Ruby was born on June 12, 1933 in Eastend, SK. She married David, the love of her life, on November 10, 1953 and in the later years worked side by side until they retired. She worked at various jobs throughout her life including the Medicine Hat Stampede and Curling Rink. Ruby will always be known as a very hard worker and for her life passion for gardening. People often referred to her as the “tomato lady” that grew the best tomatoes in the city. She loved to take the dogs for long walks through Strathcona Island Park but really slowed down in the last few years. All her family will be forever grateful for the time and memories they have shared with Ruby. She will be sadly missed and forever in the hearts and thoughts of family and friends. Ruby’s family would like to sincerely thank WeCare and Home Care staff for the compassionate and excellent homecare visits she so thoroughly enjoyed. A private family service will be held on Friday, March 13, 2021. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
