1936 – 2021

Roy Betcker passed away peacefully on June 23, 2021, at the age of 84 with his wife and children at his side. He was survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Bonnie; children, Brad (Lisa), Monty (Shelly) and Cindy (Aaron); grandchildren, Tanner Betcker (Vicki), Morgan Betcker (Casey), Rylee Bock (Quinton), Clay Betcker, Cauy, Haylee and Cheyenne Elhart; great grandchildren, Heidi Betcker and Hayes Bock. He was a proud grandpa and great grandpa.

Roy was born in Walsh, Alberta on October 21, 1936. He ranched his whole life. Cows and horses were his passion. He loved nothing better than moving cows on horseback and mostly visiting with his fellow riders after. Roy loved visiting in general, from days filled with ranching activities, to evenings playing cards, to more recently having coffee with friends and strangers alike at “The Mall”.

He loved the sport of Rodeo. He went to them all – big and small. From Elkwater to Canadian Finals and NFR in Las Vegas. Roy enjoyed the outdoors. He spent as many hours as possible each and every day out doing what he loved.

Dad was proud of all his children for following in his footsteps and loved to attend and hear about the achievements and activities of all his grandchildren.

A service for those who wish to attend will be held at the family ranch on July 3 at 1 pm with Rev. Dr. David Carter officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society in Roy’s name www.cancer.ca. The family would like to send a thank you to the staff at St. Joseph’s Carmel Hospice for the care they provided to Roy. Condolences may be made at www.gracememorial.com. Arrangements made by
