1941 ~ SHIRLEY BONOGOFSKY ~ 2021

Posted: August 10th, 2021

Shirley Bonogofsky of Medicine Hat passed away on Saturday, August 7th, 2021 at the age of 80 years. Shirley leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Karen (Larry) Egan, Tracy (Ron) Perry, Natalie Doll; son, Jason (Darcy) Bonogofsky; grandchildren, Christopher Egan, Micheal Egan (Lucy Pete), John Egan, Colton Egan, Corey (Ashlee) Perry, Kristin Perry, Lance Doll (Dayton Nieman), Brody Bonogofsky, Hannah Bonogofsky (Kellan Riley); great-grandson, Knox Perry; sister-in-law, Marie Siewert, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Shirley was predeceased by her husband, Isidore Bonogofsky; parents, Fred and Tillie Siewert; brother, Lawrence Siewert; sister, Agnes (Al) West. Mom was the needle that sewed us all together. While she was able to, she insisted on cooking Sunday supper every weekend. There were never too many people, or too much trouble. She loved her amily and her grandchildren. She catered to her grandchildren to the point of making them whatever they wanted when they would phone her and tell her they were coming for lunch (because Grandma’s was the best!). If they stayed over, she would make whatever snacks they wanted. Mom never complained about anything, regardless of how sore she might be feeling, or how tired she may be. She would keep on smiling and having you think everything’s okay. As dad had always taken such good care of her, mom got used to telling us what to do for her. She was well known for her fried chicken and potato salad, which everyone loved. She also had her own unique way of complimenting people. She told one of her daughters once that her hair color was the same as this dog she knew – keep in mind though mom loved this dog’s coat coloring, so this was her finest compliment she could give. She was a wonderful lady with a big heart who would do anything to help you. Go and rest now with dad. We will have a beer in your honour, Cheers! We will miss you. We love you. Special thanks to Masterpiece and the Home Care staff as well as Ken and Gloria Schmaltz for all the good care given to mom.
