Bob Solley passed away at the Riverview Care Centre in Medicine Hat on Sunday, August 22, 2021, at the age of 77 years. Bob’s memory will be forever cherished in the hearts of his wife, Marilynn; daughters, Wendy Solley and Sheri Solley; grandsons, Noah Wilson and Jakob Grant; siblings, Ronald and Florence; nephews, Alan, Shawn and Timothy; mother-in-law, Pearl Simpso; sisters and brothers-in-law, Diana (Danny) Sagin, Terry (Lynda) Simpso and Gloria Wright with nieces and nephews, Lynne (Neil) Windjack and Barry, Art and Lori Wright. Bob was predeceased by his grandson, Levi Grant; brothers-in-law, Stanley Simpso, Kim Simpso and Jerry Wright. Bob was born in Toronto on September 5th, 1943, and spent most of his childhood in Scarborough, Ontario. At the age of 17, he moved to Regina with his family. Bob decided to stay despite the family returning to Ontario. It was here that he met his first wife, Linda (with whom they shared two daughters) and started his 27 year career with Sask-Tel. Bob loved to visit with friends every weekend. He was forever a boy scout, helping out when and wherever he could. He’d never turn down a game of cards; cribbage being his favourite. Bob also enjoyed carpentry. He built in the basement of each of the two family homes, as well as constructing the two garages, from plans up. Bob was an avid reader of Western pocketbooks; a dreamer of an era gone by. He married Marilynn in 1989 and the two of them had many adventures. They enjoyed nights out dancing, downhill skiing (stints on ski patrol) and wintering in Mesa, Arizona. They moved to Silton, SK., then to Birch Hills, SK., and lastly to Medicine Hat where they made many friends. Bob spent the last year of his life at Riverview Care Centre. The family is forever grateful to the staff who made his life just that much better. Special thanks to the Recreation Therapy Department for engaging Bob and doing Skype calls when the family could not visit in person. Thank-you also to Extended Family Services and the Comfort Care workers that helped on Bob’s unit and who did one on one visits. Bob’s family will celebrate his life with a service to be held in Birch Hills, SK., at a later date. Memorial donations in Bob’s name may be made directly to Revera Riverview Care Home Resident Council, 603 Prospect Drive SW, Medicine Hat, AB., T1A 4C2.
