David Gordon Mast was born on August 31, 1944, in Regina, SK. After WWII, the family moved from Regina to Medicine Hat and Dave took all his schooling and completed his education in the City. During his teen years he worked at various locations in the Hat. Dave joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 1963 and served in the Canadian Artillery at various Bases with most of his service in Germany until he was released in 1985. He worked at BATUS in the Munitions Branch for 20 years. Dave is survived by his life partner, Linda Caswell; daughter, Carol O’Brien; step-children, Bev (Ian) Draper, Jorg (Anysley) Klinger, Dan (Kristy) Rance; grandchildren, Sean, David, Cody, Jessie, Beau; great-grandchildren, Aryanna, Noah, Ophelia, Sawyer and Lexi; brothers, Paul (Sharon), Reid; sister, Kathy (David) Miller as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Dave was predeceased by his wife, Patricia; daughter, Crystal; parents, Almer and Lois; sister-in-law, Robyn and niece, Kristen. Dave had a good voice and loved to sing and enjoyed good music. He sang in Musical Theatre and other musical venues. Dave enjoyed sports, fishing, camping, history, telling stories and always a good visit with a cup of joe. He will be sadly missed by all. Due to the Covid 19 restrictions, a private family Funeral Service will be celebrated at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel on Friday, October 1, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. with Life Celebrant Gerry Getz officiating. The service will be live streamed and anyone wishing to join the family virtually and experience the service can visit our website and select the View Broadcast button on the homepage at service time. A public Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery. Anyone wishing to join in the procession is asked to gather at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., on Friday between 2:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. (Condolences may be expressed by visiting our website at www.cook southland.com) If friends so desire, memorial donations in David’s name may be made directly to APARC Medicine Hat, 1002 South Railway Street S.E., Medicine Hat, Alberta, T1A 2W2 or to the charity of one’s choice.     So sorry to hear of Dave’s passing. Dealt with Dave a lot through work at the Base. My dad shared a hospital room with him in July. He always had lots to talk about. My condolences to his family.
