Posted: October 1st, 2021

We are sad to announce the passing of our Mother and Grandmother, Laurel Alice Fenty. Mom lost her fight with cancer on Sept. 24, 2021. She will be lovingly remembered by her partner, Earl Skidmore; children, Sherry (Tim) Laczkowski, Dave Burr, Ron (Jackie) Burr, Alex Lobban; her dear cousin, Anne (Dale) Davison and all their families. Laurel was predeceased by her daughter, Kirsty Lobban; son, Neil Burr; parents, Angus and Olga McKinnon and Ed and Daisy Gunson. Laurel was born in Arrow River, Manitoba on June 27, 1942. Mom was privileged to have a career she loved in health care and worked as a care aid until she was 72. She deeply cared for all her clients. Mom loved to dance and will be waiting for Earl so they can dance their way into heaven together. We would like to say a special thank you to the wonderful staff at St. Joseph’s Home. Our family and I are so grateful for your kindness and comfort. No matter what, you always had a smile and took the time to give excellent care to mom and I. You truly are Essential Angels. Over the last week with mom, as I tried to go through the motions of normalcy, I was reminded how important it is to treat others with kindness and patience because we have no idea the mental and or physical pain others are suffering. A special thank you to Pearl, our Home Care Nurse and to mom’s friends, Lil, Lou and Diane for all your help throughout moms fight, please know it has been appreciated. Mom will be laid to rest in Arrow River, the place always dearest to her heart, ” Home “. There will be no funeral service held at this time.
